1. Bathroom sinks are functional, but they can complement any style as well. Sinks made of glass, stainless steel, porcelain, ceramic, vitreous china, fireclay - even birch wood - are available. The choice of material is yours.
2. You can choose not only material, but also sink-mounting style as well. There are wall-mount sinks
(convenient if space is a consideration), pedestal sinks (elegant, and
save space, but not much for storage), and vessel sinks (beautiful
bowls), too. Self-rimming (over the countertop) and undermount (no rim)
work well with vanities.
3. Pedestal sinks
are, as the name implies, a basin atop a pedestal, and it can be a
truly elegant look. Pedestal sinks can add a distinct touch to a half
bath, as they give you a feel of height and take up very little space.
The basins are often porcelain.
4. A wall-mount sink's basin can be fully exposed or
semi-recessed, depending on the countertop or vanity shelf. As you
might guess, it mounts directly to a wall.
5. A vessel sink's
basin sits almost fully above the countertop, like an exposed bowl.
This style provides a contemporary edge, or an almost art-like look.
6. Along with style, model, and material, some of our
sinks allow you to pick your favorite faucet finish and style, too.
Most of our faucets are stainless steel, but some are available in
brass.
7. If you want to change your sink, but would like to keep
your faucet, maybe you can. Make sure the model of bathroom sink you
order comes with the same number of pre-drilled holes your current
faucet requires. If they'll match, you can get that new sink without
having to order a faucet to go with it.
8. Bathroom walls are especially vulnerable to water,
moisture, and spills. A bathroom sink vanity with a built-in backsplash
extends the area that is protected and easy-to- clean.
9. Are you the type of person who uses the countertop
space around your bathroom sink? If so, a pedestal sink probably isn't
for you. When thinking about a new sink, go through your normal routine
at your current sink; take note of what you need - and what you would
change.
10. While sinks are available in several high-end, delicate materials such as glass
and china, it might be best to save those for lesser-used bathrooms.
Guest baths and powder rooms are ideal for "fashion" sinks, as they'll
make a strong design impact, without the everyday use.
